13.07.2027 Market Report

EUR/USD

The Euro (EUR) depreciates moderately against the US Dollar (USD) on Monday, as escalating tensions between the US and Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz dampened appetite for risk and boosted inflationary pressures at the week’s opening.

GBP/USD

The GBP/USD pair finds some support near 1.3370 after a modest gap-down opening on Monday, though it lacks bullish conviction and remains below 1.3400. Nevertheless, spot prices, for now, seem to have stalled the pullback from a nearly four-week high, around the 1.3450 area, touched on Friday amid mixed fundamental cues.

USD/JPY

The USD/JPY pair builds on Friday’s late rebound from the 161.30-161.25 region and gains strong positive traction at the start of a new week. The momentum lifts spot prices back above the 162.00 round figure during the Asian session and is sponsored by a combination of supporting factors.

AUD/USD

The AUD/USD pair loses ground to near 0.6940 during the early Asian session on Monday. Renewed tensions in the Middle East weigh on the riskier assets such as the Australian Dollar (AUD) against the US Dollar (USD). Traders brace for the release of the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation data, which is due later on Tuesday.

NZD/USD

NZD/USD depreciates after three days of losses, trading around 0.5750 during the Asian hours on Monday. The currency pair holds onto its losses as the New Zealand Dollar (NZD) remains subdued, failing to find immediate support despite a positive turnaround in local economic data.

USD/CAD

The USD/CAD pair gains traction to near 1.4165, snapping the four-day losing streak during the Asian trading hours on Monday. The US Dollar (USD) strengthens against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) amid lingering tensions regarding the US-Iran conflict. The US June Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation report will be the highlight later on Tuesday.

USD/CHF

USD/CHF gains ground for the second successive day, trading around 0.8100 during the Asian hours on Monday. The pair appreciates as the US Dollar rises on increased safe-haven demand amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. According to Bloomberg, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched additional strikes on Sunday evening, aimed at weakening Iran’s capability to target civilian vessels navigating the waterway.

CRUDE OIL

Oil prices surged nearly 5% in Asian trade on Monday after renewed fighting between the U.S. and Iran revived fears of a major disruption to global crude supplies, with Tehran announcing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

GOLD

Gold (XAU/USD) maintains its offered tone through the Asian session on Monday and currently trades just above $4,050, down nearly 1.40% for the day. A further escalation of tensions between the US and Iran, along with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, lifts crude oil prices and revives inflation fears. This, in turn, bolsters expectations of higher interest rates by the US Federal Reserve (Fed), which benefits the safe-haven US Dollar (USD) and drives flows away from the bullion.
